With that thought in mind … I bought some craft supplies

1. Fine art - canvas boards – These costed me 22rs a piece and come board mounted.. no need to frame.
2. Some Craft papers from navneet publications in different colors 8rs for 25 pieces. For trial.
3. Acrylic colors in bright shades.
4. Thick brush.

Next it was mettalic bronze on white canvas. I’m going to stick a satin loop behind the canvas and they are ready to hang. My parents are moving into their new home next weekend and I’m sure they’ll love to display these

Footprints? Handprints? Doodles? Doesn’t matter. This is a good excuse to get the whole family to do something creative together, and then enjoy the result.

Materials :

1. Small  sieve
2. Rangoli powder – Yellow, Red, Green, White
3. Magazine cover
4. Transparent cello-tape.
5. Chalk piece & a small sieve of thick thread.

Steps:

1. Assemble all materials at one place.
2. Tie one end of the thread to a wet chalk piece.
3. Put a dot , then place  your thumb tightly over the thread on the dot and draw a circle.
4. Similarly draw 2 more bigger circles encircling each other by increasing the radius.
5. Now hold the Sieve in your right hand and pour little amounts of red rangoli powder. The trick is to never let your sieve touch the ground. However keep it as close to the ground as possible.. Fill up the inner circle. Ignore if it falls a little outside the chalk circle.
6. Similarly, Add yellow color outside the red
7. Now fill the biggest circle with green rangoli powder.
8. Make a fresh cone using magazine cover. stick it in place using a cello-tape. Fill it upto 3/4 using white rangoli powder. cut the lower end of the cone so as to allow free fall of rangoli powder.
9. Draw muruku like design  in the yellow section holding the cone firmly. Practise on a news paper to gain confidence.
10. Complete the muruku design in the yellow section.
11. Add circles along the circumference
12. Add final designs as you desire and add a swastika in the centre.

Materials :

1. Plastic sieve
2. Rangoli powder – Yellow, Red, Purple, White
3. Magazine cover
4. Transparent cello-tape.

Steps:

1. Assemble all materials at place where you would like to put the rangoli.
2. Take the plastic seive and ligtly pour powdered yellow rangoli until the floor beneath is covered by color. Do not touch, Do not shake.
3. Lightly shake the seive so as to let all residual powder settle below. pick up the seive & place on a paper at the side.
4. Similarly, place the seive on the right side of yellow circle and repeat steps 2 & 3 using color red.
5. Continuing in the same fashion, put alternate red and voilet circles around the yellow circle.
6. Make a paper cone out of the magazine cover and put cello-tape to fix it in place. Add white rangoli powder to it. Cut the lower end to make a small hole. Make sure that hole is big enough to let the rangoli flow freely out of the cone without external stimulus.
7. Using your cone, draw outlines to each circle.
8. Put dots in the center of each circle, Put muruku like design along the circumference.
9. Make your own design within each circle. Or you can choose to leave it blank.
10. End it with a swastik in the center.

What you will need :

1. A thermocol plate
2. Acrylic colors – Red & white (or yellow)
3. Some glitter tubes
4. Brushes and water.

Steps:

1. Color the thermocol plate red. Let dry.
2. Then using white (or yellow) acrylic color, paint simple designs on the plate.
3. You can add final touches using Glitter glue or sequins or small mirrors. Sorry I had none at home.
